Carrie Mildred Poole Dickens, Riordan, Davidson.
My mother. She was born February 25, 1914, died June 24,1983.

She died of a stroke.
She was a daughter of Plummer and Sadie Poole of Robertson County, TN. She was one of several siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.

Carrie was the first wife of Ernest C. Dickens. She was mother of Howard Douglas, Ernest Gene, Larry, and Donald Ross Dickens and Ray & Joyce Riordan.
After mother and dad divorced circa 1941-42, my brothers and I were sent to live with kin folks. For the next few years mother never neglected to send me a big box of presents for my birthday and Christmas.

Mother later married Raymond Riordan and they had two children, Joyce and Ray.
Each summer until I was 17, I went to Louisville to spend a couple of weeks with mother and her new family.

Cemetery Photos 08/19/2000.

Carrie is buried in Louisville Memorial Gardens, Louisville, KY. Section: Last Supper, 16 B-4.

Mother died in Louisville after suffering a stroke while
staying in Chattanooga, TN. where Jim was doing another painting job.
Her last home was just outside of Shepherdsville in Bullitt County, KY.

Mom and me circa 1936
I don't know what year but it was after Joyce and Ray were grown, mother married Jim Davidson. Jim was my age. I spent some time with them in the early 1980s at their home in Shepherdsville, KY. I stayed with them when I went back to Louisville to broadcast during a six weeks rating period as a favor to a friend who owned WTMT Radio. After I finished the six weeks, we all moved in motorhomes to Muhlenberg County, KY where Jim and I painted the steel frames of a new building at the Paradise Steam Plant. Jim was a union painter. That was my only commercial painting endeavor. Climbing steel beams was definately not for me.
Mother was a good pianist. When she was a teenager she played for the Wartrace Methodist Church in Robertson County, TN and later, she was the regular pianist for the Manley Memorial Baptist Church in Louisville, KY for several years.
